Drumroll please... it's officially Pride month, and our Flocksters are ready to party! But let's not forget the importance of honoring LGBTQ+ history and continuing the work toward equality, especially during trying times. We owe a huge thank you to our incredible LGBTQ+ team members, who have played an instrumental role in making Flock what it is today, our Boss Lady included! As always, we're committed to supporting and celebrating them throughout this month and beyond.
DC will have A LOT of events this month. We take Pride seriously around here. Here’s a round-up of a few happenings our team has their eyes on:
Make a trip out to the old ball game while supporting the queer community at the Nats Night Out game in honor of Pride Month. $5 of every ticket sold goes towards Team DC, a local organization with the goal of promoting the benefits of individual and team sports participation to the LGBTQ community through education and awareness. Perfect way to kick off your first weekend of Pride Month on June 6th!
Support local LGBTQ+-owned businesses and creators across the DMV at a fun
Pride Pop-Up Market at The Outrage DC on June 17th. Everything from clothing, wall art, jewelry, and more. Count us in!
Don’t miss DC’s only Drag Story brunch for humans of all ages with the iconic Tara Hoot’s Drag Queen Story Time Pride Brunch at Crazy Aunt Helen’s on June 24th! This is sure to be a great time for just about anyone, with the added bonus of a portion of proceeds benefitting An Open Book Foundation.

And if you’re seeking a great volunteer opportunity, we recommend checking out some of the incredible organizations that work towards providing resources, support, and safety to our LGTBQ+ neighbors to see how you can get involved this month and beyond. There are countless opportunities to demonstrate allyship to our queer Washingtonians throughout June, and we encourage everyone to carry this spirit all year and discover ways to offer ongoing support, protection, and empowerment to the LGBTQ+ community throughout the year.
