Returning to Our Roots: A Letter from Nest DC's Founder

Nest DC

When I stopped painting, Nest DC leveled up. We added team members, tools, offices and refined our processes. We grew and adapted to changes in the industry, the city, the market and the economy. We started Roost DC in 2013 to manage condo associations and in 2015, we brought our maintenance services in house (which "they" said couldn't be done BTW).

In 2020, we launched BirdWatch, which cares for owner-occupied homes. To say we were ambitious is an understatement. I went big with Roost DC and BirdWatch ... but Nest DC is, and always has been the heart and soul of my belief, which is that happy residents create happy communities, and happy communities create happy cities. I realized that it was time for me to get back to basics.

In Dec 2023, Roost DC was sold, and BirdWatch shifted ownership. After fifteen years, Nest DC, once again laser focused, jumped at the opportunity to level up yet again. A once-in-a-business-lifetime chance to hold our core values high but take a deep dive into our service delivery model. We went into learning mode. We asked, we listened, we got to work. What we heard: you want more transparency, clearer and cleaner communication, a single point of contact, and the empathy and care Nest DC has been known for. Our response? We're on it! Let's get back to basics.

This year, we have studied every part of Nest DC, from the people, to the processes, to the properties we manage - your properties. The work has been extensive. By year end, Nest DC will be newly-reconfigured, with our original brand promise, Managing Homes With Care. And caring for you.

I'm the proud owner and founder of Nest DC, but not too proud to say we've had a lot of work to do. Challenge accepted.

Thank you for being part of this new Nest DC.
