CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW HOME!
We here at Nest are really looking forward to working with you. We are a community-oriented, values-based company, and we want you to have a great experience as a Nest resident. This page is designed to help you prepare for the first step, your upcoming move in!
This can be done via your Appfolio Tenant Portal. Please reachout to your leasing agent for details

An electronic copy of your Certificate of Insurance with Nest DC named as an 'Additional Interest' is required in order to schedule your move-in walkthrough.
You should make sure you are covered for both liability and personal property, as not all renter's insurance policies cover both.
If you are renting in a condo building, keep in mind that there are two management entities involved in your housing experience. Nest DC, on behalf of the owner of this particular unit, manages all things related to your specific unit (think: anything inside your four walls). We'll be your point of contact for any in-unit maintenance, questions about rent or lease terms, etc. Separately, there is a building management company that handles things such as call box programming, package issues, common area maintenance, etc. They are your point of contact for all things related to the building.
While we manage your unit, we don't manage the entire building. Every condo building is a little different - look to the condo rules (attached to your lease) for exact instructions on contacting the building manager to reserve an elevator, paying any move-in fees, reserving designated parking, etc. Some buildings have time and date restrictions regarding moves, so it is best to check with them BEFORE booking movers or planning your move-in day. Confirming with the building manager that all steps are completed will ensure the smoothest move-in experience.
*If the building doesn't have dedicated parking for moves, you can reserve street parking through the city for a small fee. To apply for No Parking Signs, visit the TOPS (Transportation Online Permitting System) website to register and apply for a "Parking/Occupancy Permit." It is a multi-step process that involves printing the signs at your local Police Department and hanging them in your preferred location 72 hours in advance, so plan to do this ahead of time!

Congratulations, you're on the last step with us! Please refer to our email to schedule the move-in walkthrough of your unit or arrange for key pick-up. (Remember: this walkthrough is different from your move-in date that you've coordinated with the building, if you live in a condo!)
