We don’t want to be biased but…we’re biased. Living in the city proper means you can ditch the car, walk to nightlife and never see a strip mall again. We focus almost exclusively on DC rentals so if suburban living is your style, we’ll have to offer you a referral!

Believe it or not, DC is a small town for the urban dweller. Little neighborhoods like Dupont Circle, Columbia Heights, Mount Pleasant, Capitol Hill, Adams Morgan and Shaw offer city elegance, and a sense of community at once. There is no disputing our capital city is uber charming. So which part of town do you want to nest in?

Here is a little detail on a few of the great neighborhoods in DC and links to what the city has to offer. Of course, we’ll be happy to give you a personal tour if you would like to nest with us!

Columbia Heights - $$$

Personifies urban renewal. This forgotten neighborhood now anchors the city as host to the only Target in DC. Condos galore mark the center of the neighborhood but just blocks away are some wonderful tree lined residential streets with new wine bars, pizza spots and trendy bars tucked onto street corners. Mt. Pleasant - $$$

Nestled up against Rock Creek Park, Mt. Pleasant has the most charming main street in town with old school hardware stores, Mexican restaurants, and a restaurant with Marxist themes. Something for everyone. This eclectic neighborhood is home to some of the most elegant, and grand row houses in the city (think four stories). It’s also walkable to Adams Morgan and Columbia Heights. H Street Corridor - $-$$

This neighborhood is HOT HOT HOT. With great proximity to Union Station, Downtown DC and Capitol Hill, the area is experience an uber surge in hipster hot spots. Restaurants, café’s and bars abound in this area which seems to have new offerings by the day. Because this neighborhood has enjoyed a more recent renaissance, housing prices can still be more affordable. Click here to learn more!

Adams Morgan - $$$$$

This famous ‘hood is a destination for urban dwellers and suburbanites alike. If you’re hungry, you can satisfy any craving on 18th street, the main drag. If you’re thirsty, even better. Capitol Hill - $$-$$$$

Do you love politics? Welcome home. Brick sidewalks, elegant little row houses and interns everywhere. Capitol Hill has wonderful restaurants, sidewalk cafes and bars we all wish could talk. Dupont Circle - $$$$

Georgetown - $$$$$

One of the most famous neighborhoods in DC (or dare we say the world!). The backdrop for the famous movie the Exorcist, Georgetown is also home to Georgetown Cupcakes which TLC made super trendy (right along with the rest of the retail corridor on Wisconsin and M). Home to Georgetown University and just one bridge from Roselyn, VA this area has incredibly charming (and small) turn of the century row house and mansions alike. Rumor has it, the residents of Georgetown rejected the metro when it was still being built so public transportation (along with parking) isn’t as convenient as one might like but the bennies are hard to beat. Logan Circle - $$$$$

When Whole Foods opened on P Street in 2000 that was a game changer for Logan Circle. Situated just east of Dupont circle this gorgeous area never enjoyed the attention, fetched the prices or had the reputation of it’s neighbor to the west. Today, Logan is home to great restaurants, arts venues like Studio Theater, and some of the hottest housing accommodations in the city. With the 14th Street corridor exploding with growth, Logan acts as a residential anchor that is just minutes to downtown (and to Dupont!). For the money, anyone can live the good life in Logan but bargains are rare now that it enjoys super status as one of the most established neighborhoods in the city. Bloomingdale & Shaw - $$$

These historic neighborhoods with stately row houses and great proximity to downtown have recently become more and more popular with DC newcomers and Washingtonians alike as hot restaurants and cafes along with public parks pop up left and right. The convenient metro lines also make this a great commuter location but rentals can be hard to come by and competitive when they do come up.Click here to learn more!

Clevland Park - $$$$

If you met in Adams Morgan, this is where you go to get engaged. Still urban, but with a slower pace, Cleveland park starts to feel a little less urban with detached homes and war era condos. Right up the street from the zoo, you can’t go wrong in this neighborhood. Click here to learn more!

Eastern Market - $$$$

Elegant, convenient and historic all describe Eastern Market perfectly. Known for it’s open-air marketplace, this neighborhood is a terrific weekender destination for many Washingtonians looking for fresh produce, hand made crafts and art or antique furniture. This neighborhood features brick sidewalks on tree lined streets and lots of dogs! 16th Street Heights - $$$

One of Washington’s best-kept secrets this neighborhood is just north of Columbia Heights proper where residents enjoy a sense of community, the local coffee shop is where the whole neighborhood has brunch and kids play in the street. Larger row houses, Sears kit homes, bungalows and huge Colonials grace the three syllable streets. Throw in huge public parks and a convenient location between Silver Spring, Maryland and Downtown Washington, DC and this is a neighborhood that’s hard to beat. For the urban pioneer, Petworth became a destination about 6 years ago. Blocks to the Georgia Ave. greenline stop, Petworth is starting to offer some of the city amenities urban dwellers love, but with price tags and spaces that are unbeatable. You can rent a whole house for what a 1 bedroom in the heart of Adams Morgan will set you back. Boring? No! This neighborhood isn’t going unnoticed by businesses.
